Chapter 26. Nightmare - Playground 2
Shen Xi rubbed Yi Ruo's ear and said, "It's not over yet, let's go to another place."
"Huh?"
Shen Xi took Yi Ruo out of the castle, getting farther and farther away from the amusement facilities, until they stood under the clown.
Yi Ruo clenched the man's thick palm. Although the blood color had become less red under the night light, it was thicker and very similar to the scene that night.
The discomfort in her stomach gradually rose again. Her hands and feet were a little cold. She looked at Shen Xi and smiled weakly, "Let's not go in here, shall we?" Shen Xi touched her head, pressed it into his arms, and said soothingly, "It's not scary, believe me, I will be by your side."
Looking at Yi Ruo's still stiff body, no longer as comfortable as before, he pulled Yi Ruo over and stood next to the clown house, and they both squatted down.
Shen Xi kissed Yi Ruo's eyes tenderly, and repeatedly said in her ear: "I'm here, don't be afraid. You are not alone."
Only when Yi Ruo gradually relaxed did he hold Yi Ruo's little hand tightly and walked towards the clown house.
As soon as the door opened, all she could see was complete darkness, nothing could be seen.
With a bang, the door at the back closed, just like the sound of knocking on the door that day. Yi Ruo screamed "Ah--" and felt a pool of thick and sticky water under her feet, which was a little warm. Yi Ruo's legs suddenly went weak and she was about to fall when she was supported by the man next to her.
As if she had found her backbone, she clung to the man and cried helplessly:
"Shen Xi... I'm scared, don't... save me..."
Shen Xi hugged Yi Ruo tightly, wrapping his arms around her, his heart tightened, and he cursed the designers in his heart. He kept comforting her, "I'm here, I'm here, don't be afraid..."
"There's blood under my feet, there's blood under my feet..." Yi Ruo muttered absentmindedly, unable to hear anything.
"Yi Ruo, listen to me."
Shen Xi picked up Yi Ruo after finding that she was still immersed in her memories.
Yi Ruo's feet were in the air, away from the ground. She came to her senses and felt the man's reassuring breath coming towards her. She regained her rationality and put her arms around the man's neck and said, "What is that?"
"I don't know either. Don't be afraid. Trust me. I will put you down and take you away, okay?" the man said gently.
"Can you carry me and walk?" Shen Xi lowered his head and put his hand against Yi Ruo's forehead, saying, "No, you have to walk this road by yourself." After that, he lowered his head and groped in the darkness to kiss her lips, nodding gently.
Yi Ruo was silent for a moment, but finally nodded and let Shen Xi put her down.
When the feeling of stepping on the thick liquid was transmitted to Yi Ruo through the soles of her shoes, she couldn't help but hold the man's hand tightly.
After the man warmed Yi Ruo's cold hands, he took the woman's hand and slowly and steadily stepped on the water, walking straight forward.
In the darkness, one has no idea how much time has passed. After an unknown amount of time, Shen Xi's right hand, which had popped forward, hit a wall. He stopped and groped for something.
After a while, he raised the left hand that was holding Yi Ruo, put the woman's hand on the door handle in front, and said softly in her ear: "Open it."
Yi Ruo felt the man's strength and seemed to understand what the man was going to do, but she had no idea.
She pressed the doorknob and pushed it open, but it was still pitch black outside.
Just when she was at a loss, the lights around her slowly lit up, first from a dim dark orange, then slowly brightened, and then all the lights lit up.
It's a magical garden, Yi Ruo exclaimed. It is a crisscross of large trees, lawns, square hedges and large shrubs.
The curtain wall made of glass and wood grid surrounds the garden, using nature as the material to give vitality to the building. It blurs the boundary with nature, just like entering the fairy tale world of Andersen, full of beautiful romance and fantasy.
She saw the gorgeous lights lighting up the carousel in front of her, and each horse was decorated with flowers and plants, giving it a psychedelic feel.
The Ferris wheel, which was originally unclear, was also lit up at this time. It rotated slowly, and each transparent cabin was inlaid with colorful tassel light tubes. From a distance, it looked like a huge colorful clock face, drawing a beautiful arc in the night sky.
Yi Ruo stared at the sky in a daze, feeling it was so dazzling that it made her eyes slightly red and uncomfortable.
She looked down at the ground and found that she was standing in a shallow waterway. The so-called sticky blood was just ordinary water, which had been specially warmed up by people.
This shallow waterway flows around the entire garden, with all kinds of flowers planted beside it, just like Alice's dream forest.
Hearing the steady footsteps beside her, Yi Ruo turned to look at the man, she carefully asked:
"Why?"
From the design of the amusement park, to the cotton candy, then the clowns, the shallow waterway, and now the dream garden. Everything showed the man's careful arrangements. He seemed to have anticipated every change of mood, and then silently accompanied her.
"I just want to tell you that even if the world is dark and cruel, it will leave a pure and beautiful place for you."
The tears that had been held back at the corners of the eyes finally slid slowly from the corners of the eyes.
She understood.
The weird and exciting amusement facilities are designed in the hope that she can enjoy happiness in the midst of difficulties; the clown house is designed in the hope that she can face her fear bravely and wake up from the nightmare; and this garden is to tell her that the world will eventually leave a ray of light for her to brighten her life.
She didn't expect that he had arranged so many things for her in just two days.
"Why are you crying?" Shen Xi walked to his side, raised his hand and gently brushed the corner of her eyes.
"I obviously wanted to make you happy."
Yi Ruo threw herself forward into his arms, hugged him and said in a hoarse voice: "You are so bad."
Shen Xi laughed softly and hugged her in his arms.
"Do you want to ride the carousel?"
Yi Ruo buried her head in his arms and nodded. She followed the man's lead and walked towards the stairs.
Standing on the steps, Yi Ruo chose a wooden horse wrapped with climbing roses. She sat on it and looked up to find a red spider lily stuck on the horse's neck. It was particularly eye-catching among the pink, white and green flowers and leaves.
Shen Xi followed her gaze and saw it, frowned, and wanted to pick the flower, but just as he reached out, he was stopped by Yi Ruo.
"Very good." Yi Ruo smiled gently.
Shen Xi curled his lips slightly and raised his hand to touch the back of Yi Ruo's head. He raised his leg and wanted to walk to the wooden horse next to him, but the collar of his clothes was hooked back.
"Come sit with me. It's not a good omen to ride the carousel separately." The woman behind him said softly.
Shen Xi turned around and smiled, then raised his legs and straddled the horse. Warmth slowly surrounded him from behind, and his voice came to his ears.
"It's about to begin."
The wooden horse began to move with the music. Yi Ruo looked at the interior of the wooden horse house with curiosity like a child, legs tightly clamped around the horse's back, sitting stiffly in an unnatural manner.
"It won't fall."
Yi Ruo turned her head and looked back at the man. They were sticking to each other, and now even their breaths were entangled together.
"I'm scared, please hold me steady." Yi Ruo lay back on the man's chest.
"Okay."
The two looked at each other's pupils, and saw each other appear in each other's eyes. The ambiguous atmosphere flowed between the two as the wooden horse moved.
As if being drawn by some inexplicable attraction, Shen Xi raised his hand and gently touched Yi Ruo's waist. They moved closer and closer to each other between breaths until their lips touched, the sound of their panting drowning out their mouths.
